David Beckham was born May 2nd 1975 in Leytonstone in London where he lived until 1991. When he was 11 years old he won a two weeks training trip to Spain.

1991 Manchester United became interested in him, and on July 8th the same year he signed the contract with Manchester United. In the beginning he had to spend his time in the youth team but after a year he and four other players from the youth team got the chance to play in the first team, those players were David Beckham, Phil and Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes. When those players moved up to the first team they were only 17 years old and it�s very unusual for one of the best teams in the world to move up five players that is 17 years old to the first team.

Beckham�s first game in the first team was on september 23rd 1993 in a league cup match against Brighton, his first goal in the first team came in a Champions League match against Galatasaray. His career was just in the beginning. In Mars 1995 Beckham was moved to Preston because he didn�t take a place in the first team any more. One month later he was back in United again.

The season 1995/96 United had sold some of the players and that gave Beckham the chance to take an ordinary place in the team. And he made success from the beginning, goal in his first match from start. The same year United won "The Double" - victories in the league and the FA cup, and Beckham was one of the most im-portant players in United that year.
